Ritchie, Barbara Sudik, and John and Marjorie Kuehl. Thanks to Brookshires for donating 200 hot dogs and buns and
to G&F Sales in Quitman for donating floor tape to mark the vendor locations. Also, a special thanks to the Hawkins
Troop 391 Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Venture Crew for doing a much-needed job of directing traffic in the parking
lots.
All of the people who worked on this event are volunteers and make the job of the fire department easier. The Holly
Lake Volunteer fire Department really appreciates all the community support and wants to thank everyone who
participated in this event.
Christmas in the Pines at Holly Lake was a
Huge Success – This was the second year for the event to
benefit the Holly Lake Volunteer Fire Department and over 900
people attended on Saturday December 3rd. If you missed it, there
will be another chance next year. The day started at 7:00 AM with an
“all you can eat” Belgian waffle and sausage breakfast in the Fire Hall
for $5.00 sponsored by the Holly Lake Hook and Ladder Club. The
fire trucks were moved from the station barn from 9:00 AM until 3:00
PM and forty-four vendors setup shop and to display their arts and
crafts items for sale. This was a good opportunity to shop for
Christmas by keeping some money in the community.
After the waffle breakfast ended at 11:00 AM the Bingo Committee
followed up with hot dogs, cold drinks, and popcorn for the rest of the
day.
Many groups provided entertainment. The Holly Lake Cloggers
danced to Christmas music. “Elvis” made a surprise visit and
entertained the “young” ladies with his charms. Santa Clause actually
paid a visit at noon and all the little ones got to sit on his lap to tell him
what they wanted for Christmas. Of course the proud parents took
pictures. The Trinity Choir from Hollybrook Baptist Church sang many
beautiful Christmas songs and Donna Henderson sang some of her
favorites. She will perform at Little Italy on the Lake on New Year’s
Eve. A “Country Christmas” followed this with a guitar soloist, David
Wagner. Jim and Martha Gould set up their Karaoke equipment at 2:
00 PM and many people shared their talents. At 3:00 PM there was
a raffle drawing to gave away a First Prize of $1,000, a second prize
of four nights at the Silverleaf Resort in Branson, Mo., a third prize of
one night at the McKay House B&B in Jefferson, TX, and a forth prize
of a $75 gift certificate at the Four Winds Steakhouse in Wills Point,
TX.
