Holly Lake Volunteer Fire Department
|
The Department requires All New Department Members to have
Introductory Fire Fighter training (73 hours) before participating in
structural firefighting. Traditionally, new members responding to
incidents are restricted to the support vehicle (843) until this
introductory training is accomplished. This is to help insure the safety
of new firefighters and the confidence of trained firefighters that new
members will function well as a team member under dangerous
conditions.
The Department encourages all firefighters to have the training for
Firefighter Certification. The Training Officer will monitor each
individual's progress and recommend training opportunities. The
Department will pay for most needed training.
Regular training meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of
every month at 6:30PM.
Individual Training is available on an as needed basis by the
Department training officer.
Additional Department training is usually held from 9:00AM until
noon on the last Saturday of each month.
There are many opportunities for training outside the Department:
All firefighters are encouraged to attend the municipal training school
at Texas A&M for one week that is offered in both March and July.
The Department will pay for this training.
Other Departments frequently offer Texas A&M sponsored training
and conduct other training to meet the required training objectives.
Training opportunities are usually not a problem and the Department
will help financially when possible.
